Web Create and Collaborate
Try these websites on most any computer...any known OS limitations will be noted on the entry. Enjoy!
Formerly known as "Wallwisher," Padlet lets students share ideas by posting sticky notes. There's no sign-in required; it's possible to choose a custom URL; and it's easy to upload photos to the wall. Great for collaborative brainstorming, feedback, scavenger hunts, self-introductions, and more!
Instant document collaboration--no sign-upss, just share the link! Timeline feature lets you go back and see changes over time.
Storyboard That is a great site for kids to create storyboards of novels, historical events, etc. Flash required.
Yep, another one! But why not give kids lots of choices?? Paid versions with extra options available, but free version allows sharing, too.
Create multimedia videos, simply and easily...much like Animoto. Register as a teacher, get 25GB of FREE storage, and set up accounts for your students!
The Free Music Archive is another great place to get audio for student projects.
Upload or link to a video, add discussions, polls, etc., and share on a blog or website.
Let your students tell their story and demo their knowledge by creating a cool 'toon...
Use MixBook online for free to create sharable memory books or class projects...or yearbooks? Pay only for any printed copies you decide to order!
ABCya has a new word cloud designer with lots of design options. You can print or save your clouds from this site.
A vast collection explanations of visual arts elements and principles. You can even make your own "playlist" of things you'd like your students to learn!
Create your own audio tracks online, a la Garage Band.
With so many people doing end-of-the-year projects these days, I thought you might like IconBug, a site that has loads of images that are free for use by students.
Sign up for free to create your own infographic...or have students show their research through an infographic.
If you've never seen the TeachersPayTeachers website, it's past time to check it out! The rule is that you have to upload one resource that others can have for free before you're allowed to sell anything...this provides LOADS of free resources for everyone! And let's face it...if you're going to pay for teaching material, wouldn't you rather pay other teachers instead of corporations??
Watch the short video embedded in this blog post to learn about copyright and creative commons.
Create your own interactive images! Great for blogs, social network pages, websites and classroom activities.
Freaking out over the demise of Picnik? Try FotoFlexer!
This tool could be used by students, teachers and staff for all kinds of things. It has a VERY simple drag-and-drop interface, and the "flyers" that get created are beautiful!
This is just a webpage that allows you to write or draw on screen. SO simple...the only "choices" are pencil shape and color, so kids won't spend all their time on design instead of content. You can download your drawing, or post it to the web with a unique address. You can even "share" the link to allow students to draw with you! It also works on tablets and phones!
Free accounts for you and your students to create websites. Weebly is VERY user-friendly and easy to use!
Students can create their own computer games!
PageORama is a neat site that allows students to go online and publish a webpage that can include images and text. If you choose to create an account, you can then use the same page to revise and edit. However, account creation is not necessary...this site can also be used as a one-shot deal for short, simple projects. Very versatile!
This is just a really cool way to collaborate, and forever FREE. Create an account, then create a virtual whiteboard where you can write, type, upload images/PPT/PDF documents, include a Google map, draw, erase, etc. Share the link so that others can join your webconference! You can close the conference when you're done, and a PDF file of everything you did will be saved to your account. Student/student, teacher/student, and even teacher/teacher collaboration!
Simply choose a photo, upload it, apply one of MANY filters, and click to save! It's incredibly easy, and cool, and best of all for the kids: there is NO PASSWORD to remember!
Resize, edit, draw, crop, add effects, all on the Pixlr site! Registration is optional, and there are also Android and iOS apps.
The next time your kids are doing electronic projects, let them make their own logo! The site allows for fast editing, and the logos can be downloaded instantly.
Try setting up your reluctant writers with this graphic novel creator! Registration is a simple email address and password, which allows them to save and edit their creations. This site also includes a set of resources and plans for teachers.
Allows multiple users to draw, write, add images, etc. to a webpage together, in real time. The site does not operate on flash, so your iOS device will work, as well.
Basically, this is web-based iMovie. And it's WAY better than MovieMaker...
Upload your documents and get feedback! There are a million ways to upload files, but with this tool, others can look at your images, Word or PowerPoint documents--from any computer OR mobile device--and provide a "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" on each screen/page/slide. I'm thinking of the possibilities for the "Evaluating" level of Bloom's...
